Terranova Tutors began in 2006 to help students who needed a little extra help with their studies and it has blossomed over the years, mainly through word of mouth.
My Background
On leaving college with A levels in French, German, Business Studies and English, I decided I would like to teach and began a Bachelor of Education with language arts and movement. However, two years in, with lots of classroom experience, I decided to change course, to gain more specialist knowledge in my subject, with view to teaching later. I left university with a BA honors in Drama and English, went back packing and then lived in Spain for four years. On my return, teaching, my love for languages and drama pulled me back to my original passions; I began tutoring and later set up a drama academy. Whilst tutoring I was approached by a nursery to teach them French and following this success, I began working with other nurseries doing both French and Spanish.
Other like minded tutors got onboard and joined me on this journey. With over fifteen years experience, I have helped many students of varying ages- children to adults-achieve their goals and gain confidence and have made some friends along the way.
We always tailor to the needs of our students, to provide the best quality education. The most valuable advice I was given whilst doing my BEd is that a teacher is learning every day and never knows everything. I believe it is essential to continue to grow, to move with the times, to refresh and train. In the last few years I have done some teacher training with The Frantic Assembly and I am a qualified Arts Award Advisor. I visit Spain and France frequently and continue to build on language skills. We continue to keep updated with curriculum changes, in order to help our students as best we can.
